The Supreme Court<\/strong><\/span><\/a> has dismissed a petition seeking a declaration of the constitutionality of the abrogation of Article 370<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The court deemed the plea “misconceived” and stated that the issue of the constitutional validity of Article 370’s abrogation is already under consideration by a constitution bench. <\/span><\/p>\n The bench questioned the petitioner’s motives and noted that a declaration regarding the constitutional validity of the government’s action cannot be issued by the court. The court concluded that the present petition is misconceived and therefore dismissed it. Article 35-A, which provided special rights to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir, was also discussed.<\/span><\/p>\n On August 5, 2019, the central government revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating Article 370.
