Tafazul Islam, the prime suspect in the harrowing Dhing gang rape case, made a dramatic escape attempt by jumping into a nearby waterbody during a police investigation. This incident occurred as officers escorted Islam to the crime scene for further inquiry.

Fearing that Islam might have drowned, police immediately launched an intensive search operation. Rescue teams remain on high alert as they scour the area in hopes of locating the suspect.
Islam was apprehended on August 23 after an exhaustive investigation identified him as one of three men involved in the brutal gang rape. The search for the other two perpetrators is still ongoing.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, addressing the situation earlier on August 23, stated that existing laws and police measures are adequate to combat crimes against women. “In Dhing and several other places, such atrocities on women are happening. After the Lok Sabha election, certain sections have increased these activities,” CM Sarma remarked. He reassured the public that stringent action would be taken against all accused in the Dhing case.
This gripping turn of events has captured public attention, as authorities continue their efforts to both apprehend Tafazul Islam and bring justice to the victims of this heinous crime.
