A person thought to be a member of the outlawed ULFA and three young people who supposedly intended to join the organization are said to have made two separate attempts to flee before being struck in the leg by law enforcement in Assam. All four were wounded.

In Assam, police shot a member of the ULFA and three other youths in the leg in two separate attempt to flee incidents.

At Geleky on Sunday morning, an individual purported to be a militant and linked to a blast in Sivasagar district was hurt, according to the police. The other three individuals were hurt in Tinsukia district the night before.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma mentioned on Sunday that certain individuals may join and then leave the organization, and that law enforcement will take action if they are discovered. He concluded by saying that when ULFA founder Paresh Barua rejoins the society, all these problems will be solved.

He mentioned that if Paresh Baruah proclaimed that the shooting in Tinsukia was a sham, he would have to establish a judicial commission to investigate. However, he questioned whether Baruah would be willing to appear and testify.

On Sunday, Sivasagar Police reported that the militant had a significant involvement in the December 9 grenade explosion close to the CRPF camp in Joysagar area of the district.

The police had not previously stated that the explosion had happened, though four people were taken into custody last week in connection to the event and the injured person was not among them.

The police statement mentioned that he was assigned the job of transporting the grenade as well as throwing it.

Police stated that he was allegedly taken to Geleky in the early hours of Sunday to locate ammunition and that he attempted to flee the scene and was then shot in the leg. He is now receiving treatment at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh.

The statement mentioned that authorities had confiscated 21 rounds of live bullets, a motorbike, and other items during the search. The father of the suspect stated to local media sources that his son had been taken away on Friday and then returned on Saturday. He insisted that his son had nothing to do with any militant organization.

Three youths who were allegedly on their way to join the illegal ULFA were injured while trying to escape after being arrested by police in Tinsukia on Saturday night. According to a police officer, the youths were being transported to Sadiya, which is part of the Tinsukia district.

Mrinal Deka, the Superintendent of Police of Sadiya, reported that their relatives had told the Sadiya police station that the two had left to join a prohibited group.

The officer maintained that on Saturday, the family of the trio had provided written notification. The police launched a search operation and apprehended them in Kharsang area of Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district. During questioning, they accepted that they had attended a gathering in Dhola location. They were taken there the prior evening. When they disembarked from the police car, they attempted to grab a policeman’s firearm and attempt to flee into the night.

The police fired shots into the sky, yet when the boys persisted, they shot the teenagers in their legs. All three were taken to Dibrugarh’s AMCH and are now recovering well.
